Oh! how silly we cat lovers are: a commentary
|
I have cats. Her name is pepper and squeeky and baby. I have another cat whose name is shadow and puppy and cat. My cats get along because pepper knows to be subservient to shadow. I get along with shadow and pepper because I know to be subservient to both of them. It is a happy family when you know the chain of command: cat and then people. it is the role of a cat owner to be at the mercy of her cats' whims. we cannot help ourselves. we live to please our cats. this is so unlike dog lovers whose dogs live for them. they can never understand that animals are meant to rule humans lives. i could never (and would never want to)command my cats to sit, roll over, come or, in short, command them to do anything. If they did do something it is because they wanted to, not because I said to. Yet, the slightest meow brings me running, the most expensive cat food is stocked in my closets. It seems to me that you have to earn cat's love and respect. It is so unlike dogs, who seem compelled to love their masters. a cat's love is special, but it isn't given to just anyone. so the owner is driven to securing cat's emotions by catering to every finicky whim. and there are many.
